dr-phillips Meet Darryl Phillips, DDS

Dr. Darryl Phillips is from Clinton, Tennessee, and he loves being part of the Knoxville community.

Dr. Darryl was inspired to go into pediatric dentistry after spending time in a pediatric dental clinic with Dr. Ken Carruth, one of his favorite dental school professors. Dr. Carruth saw Dr. Darryl’s talent for working with children and his encouragement led Dr. Darryl to the career he loves.

After graduating from the University of Tennessee, he attended The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis. After graduation, Dr. Darryl chose to continue his education, completing an additional two-year residency program in pediatric dentistry at UT Memphis, during which he received extensive clinical, emergency, and surgical training. Shortly after finishing his training, Dr. Darryl returned to East Tennessee to establish Children’s Dentistry of Knoxville in August 2006.

“My goal is to establish a great relationship with my patients, so that they can see that going to the dentist is not something to be afraid of,” Dr. Darryl shares. “I love being able to have a positive impact on the way kids feel about going to the dentist now and into adulthood.”

When he is not saving the world one tooth at a time, Dr. Darryl enjoys water-skiing and wakeboarding on Norris Lake in the summer, and he doesn’t miss an opportunity to snow ski in the winter. Dr. Darryl loves traveling and spending time with his wife, Jennifer, who works with him in the practice.

mark-britton Meet Mark Britton, DDS

Dr. Mark Britton is from Madisonville, Tennessee, and he attended dental school at The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis. After graduation, Dr. B completed extensive training in cosmetic dental restorations and pulpal therapy (root canals) at The Las Vegas Institute and The Scottsdale Center for Advanced Dental Studies. He also chose to undergo additional pediatric dental training through a mini-residency at the University of Florida’s dental school.

“I love working with children, getting them off to the right start, and giving them tools for healthy teeth for a lifetime,” Dr. B says. “I believe educating children and adolescents about good habits is the key to a lifetime of good oral health.”

Dr. B and his wife, Summer, keep busy with their four beautiful children—one son and three daughters! You can also count on Dr. B, a huge Vols fan, to keep the office in the know on all things UT football and basketball related. He is an avid soccer fan and enjoys following World Cup Soccer. In his free time, Dr. B enjoys playing soccer, snow skiing, and fishing on the Tellico River.

Jim hollingsworth Meet Dr Jim Hollingsworth

Dr. Hollingsworth, or “Dr. Jim,” as you’ll hear him called around the office, is a native Knoxvillian. Dr. Jim attended Farragut High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for undergraduate studies and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry in Memphis for dental school. While in dental school, Dr. Hollingsworth received scholarships and awards for leadership because of his involvement in several academic organizations. Dr. Hollingsworth served as both the president of the Honor Council and the largest dental school organization, the American Student Dental Association. Dr. Hollingsworth is a member of the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, and the Second District Dental Society. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Katie. In his spare time, Dr. Hollingsworth and his wife like to spend time with their families and be anywhere outdoors with their dogs, Tucker and Sadie.

Dr. Mary Helen Moore Meet Mary Helen Moore, DDS

Every now and then, even superhero dentists take a break. That’s when Dr. Mary Helen Moore steps in. You’ll see her around the office if Dr. Darryl or Dr. B are away for vacations, educational conferences and meetings, or any other adventure. We are so glad to have Dr. Moore as part of our team, as we know that she shares our passion to help children have a great dental experience. Also, we know that with her on board, we can ensure your child continues to receive timely and uninterrupted care throughout the year.

Our patients love seeing Dr. Moore because many of them find out that they know her from other activities that she’s involved with in our community. She is married to Dr. Rick Moore, who is an endodontist in Farragut, and their children, Joseph and Ashley Kate, were two of Dr. Darryl’s first patients when he opened Children’s Dentistry of Knoxville!
